Features: GoalWorks provides educators the information they need to drive student success.
Easy access to clear, up-to-date student progress data is critical to generating and implementing successful intervention strategies to drive student success. Our innovative goal attainment scaling framework tracks the performance of every student toward each of their academic goals on a common scale. This affords us the unique opportunity to combine and measure data across multiple spectrums and at multiple scales.
We can examine educational progress by subject matter, by date, and by student age. We can collate data by geography, by group, or by individual. And we can do so at any level of organization, from tailoring educational strategies for a specific student to their individual needs to building a plan for professional development customized to the needs of an entire state. Putting this data directly in the hands of stakeholders and decision makers at every level empowers fast, effective responses to education needs at every scale.
Contemporary best practice in progress monitoring features data taken on student performance in an ordinary classroom setting. The Live Data Dashboard provides users with a single centralized interactive page from which to record data for all of their students. GoalWorks empowers educators to easily implement best practice, simplify the data recording process and improve the data generated, maximally driving student progress.
MODIFIED GOAL ATTAINMENT SCALE
GoalWorks guides teams to write goals and measures using a research-based goal attainment scale that virtually guarantees goals are both individualized and measurable. The scale that the team develops becomes the actual measure that is used in the classroom on a daily basis, taking the guesswork out of how to measure progress.
Case Manager Analytics
Monitor data collection for each case manager and their teams in one simple window. It will let you know how many of their goals are on track along with letting you know how recently they have collected data.
Examples of Student Work
GoalWorks allows team members to easily upload examples of student performance throughout the year. By periodically uploading examples of student work throughout the year, team meetings come alive with the visual data map and actual examples of student work. Conversations and decisions become efficient and focused on the data.
If the data is to be meaningful to the entire team (i.e., teachers, administrators, parents, and the student), the data must be displayed in clear, communicative ways. Therefore, an important component of GoalWorks is presenting data visually. As such, the system has a number of analytical tools that give you real-time feedback on how each of your students’ goals are progressing.
Not only does the system keep the data meaningful, but it also saves you valuable time. Instead of plotting data yourself, you can now spend that time giving your students additional instruction and guidance.
The data map within GoalWorks allows anyone on the team to quickly and easily enter data and monitor growth. Data collection is conducted by everyone on the team, and each data point takes seconds. Anyone viewing the data map can see who took data and on what dates.
GoalWorks uses a minimum of 256-bit encryption for all data transfers between the user and the application server. Our cloud-hosted servers are subject to SOC 2 Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 examination reporting every six months. User passwords are salted and hashed before they enter our database, GoalWorks never stores passwords in plain text, keeping your account and data safe.
You own your data, period! You can export your data at any time through several download formats, you don’t even need to contact us.
This also means your data is private. We will never share your students’ sensitive data with any third party.
School and District Views
GoalWorks allows an examination of data across students and schools to make broader decisions to improve the success of schools. An administrator can see, for example, if a school has a high proportion of writing goals that are unmet. This can lead to school decisions on hiring, professional learning, or other resources to support those needs.
GoalWorks strengthens the lines of communication between all members of a student’s growth team. Keeping everyone up to date on student progress and providing mechanisms to adapt learning strategies to changing conditions are critical to building and maintaining momentum in student progress.
The threaded communication tool within GoalWorks allows team members to stay in close contact on progress in a FERPA compliant way. After logging into the system, educators, family members, and students can stay in close touch on progress on goals without concern of the privacy of the data. By providing a centralized record of ongoing developments in the student’s academic life, we keep all team members up to date and on board with broad shifts in strategy, recent developments, and coming events. By providing a venue for parents and teachers to directly confer throughout the semester, we unify the growth team to drive student development.
Each student page conveniently includes an easy way to directly email the entire team. By enabling any team member to contact team collectively, we’ve put structures in to place to enable quick, direct intervention in student learning when needed. Team members don’t have to hunt down contact information or remember which educators are a part of the growth team, the information and the mechanism to use it are immediately available within the platform.
GoalWorks greatly simplifies the process of sending progress notes home to families. With a simple click, a report is generated that includes each active goal, the strategies used, the data map, and any notes added by the team. Instead of a day filled with compiling data and adding narrative notes for each student, progress note day is now another instructional day for teachers.
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”
The goals we guide educators to write are directly tailored to the individual student. We never draw from a goal bank that pushes students into large ill-fitting categories. We always build the goal from the ground up for each specific student ensuring that we meet their specific needs.
When writing goals, by focusing on the specific skills that underpin educational standards, we ensure that student effort is directed towards the most valuable and responsive aspects of the subject matter, driving meaningful student progress.
Many goals sound good, but turn out to be impossible to clearly measure within in the prescribed settings. GoalWorks helps educators to write clear, measurable goals, each using a method of measurement directly applicable to the relevant skill.
Administration & Compliance
GoalWorks offers administrators at the district and state levels powerful ways to compile and view growth data to inform and encourage large-scale academic improvement. The ability to provide administrators with big-picture views of student progress toward goals within their district or state uniquely positions GoalWorks to be able drive targeted response to the unique academic needs of each area.
Once we’ve highlighted the specific problems in academic development are facing a given area, GoalWorks, we can then direct educators to clear, effective strategies for improvement. Through customized, targeted professional development solutions, we can maximize the impact of district and state resources to meaningfully improve student outcomes on a large scale.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) gives parents and students who have reached the age of 18 the right to access student education records. By bringing students and their families directly into the application with their own individual accounts, GoalWorks goes beyond mere compliance with the law to afford parents greater access to progress data, team strategies, and team communication, all in real time.
Giving students and families an ongoing, active role in their pursuit of goals expands and accelerates student development and increases student success.
